Callum Hudson-Odoi to join Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan

Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan. The Chelsea winger is about to fly out to Germany for his medical with the Bundesliga side.

While the Blues are trying to sign players to bolster their squad, the club is not ignorant that they need to offload some of the playing staff. The club has seen the arrival of a few players this summer, with Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly the main headline. The long pursuit of Wesley Fofana has also yielded fruits while they continue to negotiate a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

While their transfer business is still ongoing, the club has several unhappy players in their squad, and they need to find them new homes. Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are players who are not happy with their current status. The players hope to join Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley in leaving the club.

While Thomas Tuchel is still working to strengthen his squad, he has fixed the immediate future of Callum Hudson-Odoi. The winger has agreed to a deal that takes him to Bayer Leverkusen on loan this summer.

Hudson-Odoi sets sail for Germany

Callum Hudson-Odoi had little game time under Thomas Tuchel last season. The German seemed to lack confidence in the Ghanaian winger and used him less frequently. With the World Cup on the horizon, the winger is keen to get game time to keep in shape for the competition.

With game time at Chelsea hard to come by, the Blues are working on a loan move for the 21-year-old. Hudson-Odoi is close to sealing a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen following an agreement with the Bundesliga side to sign him till the end of the season.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling has jeopardized the chances of the winger getting regular game time. It has been an arduous task convincing Thomas Tuchel that he is up to the task and has not been at his best since he returned from an Achilles injury he sustained last season. With Tuchel struggling to accommodate him in the squad, perhaps a loan move would do his career some good.

Odoi wants to revive his career

Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen. The details are almost complete, with the 21-year-old about to fly to Germany to sign the papers. He will put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal.

Last week, Sportsmail reported negotiations between Chelsea and Leverkusen over a loan move for Hudson-Odoi. The Chelsea winger was keen on regular playing time and supported the move.

Hudson-Odoi was a target for Bayern Munich. The Bavarians were keen to sign the Chelsea winger in 2020, but Chelsea rejected the bid and instead offered Odoi a contract extension.

The winger joined Chelsea at six and has gone through the ranks to the senior side, where he has made 126 appearances for the club. Under Frank Lampard, he enjoyed his best spell at Stamford Bridge. Lampard was keen to give the young fledglings opportunities.

The youngster played 33 games, scoring three goals in the 2019-20 season and followed it up with 37 appearances the following campaign, where he scored five goals.
