Shami, Siraj, and Thakur Will Play for India in Australia

The three bowlers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur will be leaving on Thursday to join the rest of the Indian team for the men’s Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet announced a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah. It is currently impossible to predict which of them will end up becoming a member of the primary team.

Chahar Missed the ODIs

The other reserve players, including Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Deepak Chahar, are not scheduled to go at this time since there are no plans to do so.

Chahar was unable to play in the One-Day International series that was played against South Africa and has now come to an end. The reason Chahar was unable to play was that he was suffering from a back condition.

On October 6, the core team boarded an aircraft to go to Australia, and ever since they arrived in Australia, they have been stationed in Perth.

While the players were in Perth, they took part in a training camp that lasted for a week and played a practice match against a Western Australia XI squad. Overall, the players had a positive experience in Perth.

They are going to play their next game at their practice session on October 13th. Bumrah suffered from a stress reaction during the Twenty20 International portion of the white-ball series against South Africa, which was a big setback to India’s prospects of winning.

As a result, Chahar Was Hurt

At that time, Shami and Chahar were both candidates to take the role of Bumrah as the bowler who would replace Bumrah. However, Chahar suffered an injury, which propelled Shami to the position of leading contender to take over for Bumrah.

The final decision will likely be taken when Shami’s present condition of health is ascertained.

Shami has not taken part in a Twenty20 International match since the end of the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup in November of the previous year.

He has been undergoing training sessions at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as a consequence of his struggle with Covid-19, which caused him to miss the home series against Australia and South Africa.

This past July, when India was on tour in England, he took part in a competitive cricket match for the first time in quite some time.

In Perth, India Will Play a Warmup Match

India will play a practice match in Perth on Thursday, and then they will travel to Brisbane, where they will play two official World Cup warm-up matches on October 17 and 19, respectively, against Australia and New Zealand.

These matches are scheduled to take place before India leaves for the World Cup in Australia. The city of Brisbane will serve as the setting for these matches.

After that, the squad will begin their journey to Melbourne, where they will begin their preparations for their first match of the tournament, which will be on the 23rd of October and will be against Pakistan.

Group 2 of the Super 12 competition contains India, as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa, and two teams who progressed from the first round of qualification.

Bangladesh and South Africa are also included in this group.

India’s T20 World Cup squad: Rohit Sharma (capt), KL Rahul (vice-capt), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
