Steve Kerr Fined Draymond Green for Striking Jordan Poole

When Draymond Green punched teammate Jordan Poole during a Golden State Warriors practice, head coach Steve Kerr said on Tuesday that Green will be penalized but not banned.

Following the Warriors’ exhibition game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Steve Kerr made the statement, calling the current scenario “the worst catastrophe that we’ve ever faced.” He would not say how much the fine was.

It will be Thursday before he misses another session, Kerr said. “He needs to pay a penalty. We won’t be suspending him. On Friday, he will participate in our last preseason game, and I anticipate him to also play on opening night.”

Green, Poole, Curry, and GM Bob Myers Were “Important Players”

“This is the most serious problem we’ve ever faced.” Kerr said that Green, Poole, Stephen Curry, and general manager Bob Myers were all “important players” in the deliberations over Green’s suspension. Adding, “It’s been an intensive process,” Kerr said.

“After giving it careful consideration, we have concluded that this is the best route ahead. Choosing this kind of scenario is never simple. It won’t be without flaws, however.” Since I’ve been the coach here, this is by far the most serious situation we’ve ever faced.

The matter at hand is quite weighty.” When Draymond Green punched teammate Jordan Poole during a Golden State Warriors practice, head coach Steve Kerr said on Tuesday that Green will be penalized but not banned.

Poole Took a Jab from Green’s Fist

In response to allegations that he hit Poole during practice, Green issued an apology on Saturday. According to sources who spoke to Yahoo Sports’ Vincent Goodwill, Green and Poole’s tensions have been building since the beginning of the training camp.

Even though both Poole, 23, and Green, 28, are eligible for contract extensions, the former is largely anticipated to obtain one while the latter’s long-term future with the organization is uncertain. Green, at 32 years old, has been instrumental in four NBA titles for the Warriors.

Leaked footage from a Warriors practice showed Green coming up to Poole’s chest after an apparent verbal dispute, then hitting Poole in the jaw, sending him crashing to the floor. This footage was released by TMZ after the claims surfaced.

Green told the media, “I failed as a leader. I apologize to Poole, his family, and the Warriors for the shame” the assault created. As a man, I have failed.

In retrospect, “I was wrong for my acts that took place on Wednesday,” Green said. “I’ve expressed my regret to my team because of this.

I’m sorry if I offended Jordan, and I have apologized to him.” He said the assault had nothing to do with the contracts he and Poole were in. ‘I can guarantee you I don’t count other people’s pockets,’ Green said.

How Come Green Wasn’t Put on Suspension?

Green has been punished by the Warriors previously when he got into an incident with another player. Under the excuse of “behavior harmful to the team,” the squad decided to bench him for one game in 2018.

During a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, he referred to Kevin Durant as a “bitch.” He refrained from punching Durant. An inquiry was made to Kerr as to why Green was not suspended at this time.

While each circumstance is unique, “Kerr said. “We don’t just look at one item and decide we have to apply it somewhere because we did it somewhere else.

We’d like to think that our decade-long track record and the confidence we’ve earned from our audience has given them a reason to believe that we’ve given this choice careful consideration.” As I said before, we think this is the most sensible next step for us to take.”

Kerr further by saying that decisions were impacted by talks between Green and Poole. The conversation between Jordan and Draymond was “excellent,” Kerr said. “I believe it will help us go forward.”

In public, Poole has said nothing about what happened. Soon, according to Kerr, Poole will give an interview to the press.

On October 18th, the Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers for their regular season home opener and will have a ring ceremony to commemorate their 2022 NBA title.
